Race Description
Swim: The swim will be in the outdoor pool. Athletes will share lanes and are asked to maintain appropriate lane etiquette. Wetsuits will be optional if the water temperature is below 22°C as measured on race morning. An announcement of the water temperature will be made at the race briefing.
Transition 1: From the swim it is a short run to the transition area and to your bike. Put your helmet on first before removing your bike from the rack. You must have your torso covered before leaving transition. Proceed to the bottom of the transition area and mount your bike after crossing the “Mount” mat. Bike: After mounting your bike follow the indicated lane around the corner before merging. Please ensure you look over your shoulder to avoid riding into the path of a competitor already on course. Complete the number of laps relative to the event you have entered (1 lap = 1km). Whilst riding keep to the left unless overtaking. Failure to do so may result in a blocking penalty. This is a non-drafting race so riders must stay 7 metres back from the front wheel of the bike in front of them. Drafting will be penalised. On your final lap move to the outside of the track at the top of the hill and prepare to dismount. Dismount your bike before crossing the “Dismount” mat and proceed to rack your bike. Do not remove your helmet until your bike is racked. Transition 2: Your bike must be stable on the rack before you remove your helmet. Run down the hill to the bike mount line and take the footpath on your right through the trees. Run: The footpath is the commencement point of all run legs. Follow the signs until you reach the indicated turn around point for the event you have entered. All runs are out and back with the exception of Event 5. Event 5 is a 2 lap out and back. At the completion of your run follow the indicated path up the back of the transition area to finish line next to the registration shelter. Please advise the timekeeper of your race number and hang your timing chip on the clothes line. |
